Universal Design for Learning provides an instructional learning path that assumes human variability to learn, builds a framework around instruction and supports the widest breadth of learners.

1 –  Teacher Clock Hours Available

  1. The premise of Universal Design for Learning for learners with significant intellectual and developmental disabilities and autism is to provide the widest breadth of instruction and learning.
  2. Technology plays an important role in supporting Universal Design for Learning (UDL) that ensures the learners have the communicative AT supports to develop communication skills. After all, “compliance” is not a goal but having a functional way to communicate a choice, is.
  3. Using the SETT Framework to Level the Learning Field for Learners with Significant Disabilities: the goal of the SETT Framework is a tool/process to help collaborative teams (i.e. transition teams, supported employment agency, Division of Vocational Rehabilitation, DDA, etc.) to create a Student/Person-centered, Environmentally-useful and Tasks-focused Tool systems that foster access, inclusion, independence and fosters skill development. What are the similarities and differences from the widely recognized Discovery Process?
  4. Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Access: creating a culture of inclusion through professional development. Creating a culture of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Access includes our need to provide information based on the instructional variability of a learners. Instruction and learning are as unique as our fingerprints, and a one-size-does-not-fit-all and all instructional and environmental supports need to be considered on the frontend of services, rather than having to retrofit an environment or worse yet, the learner has to experience failure before they get the instructional supports necessary.
